Exchanges with a direct BTC/GBP market: Revolut X, Coinbase, Bitstamp, Kraken. Elsewhere you need a currency conversion or an intermediate currency, which usually adds cost.

What to know about BTC

Bitcoin is the first and largest cryptocurrency (since 2009), with a supply cap of 21 million coins. When buying, the rate is only part of the story: the withdrawal fee to your own wallet is a fixed amount of BTC, so on small purchases it can eat several percent. Some exchanges let you withdraw via the Lightning Network, which is usually cheaper. For large purchases order book depth matters more than the fee, because a big order eats through ever more expensive offers.

Paying with GBP: what to watch for

You will usually deposit pounds via Faster Payments: typically free and instant (e.g. Kraken, Coinbase). Kraken, Coinbase, Bitstamp and Revolut X have GBP markets, but they are thinner than EUR or USD, so for larger amounts the calculator often picks a route via EUR or USDT.

How it works

Four steps to the best rate

  1. 01

    Enter the amount

Enter an amount in any of 30+ currencies (dollars, euro, pounds, złoty and more) or in stablecoins, and choose what you want to buy: Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT or USDC.

  2. 02

    We scan the order books

We pull hundreds of live offers from every exchange and check every buying route, including currency conversion and intermediate currencies, e.g. GBP → USDT → BTC.

  3. 03

    We add up every cost

Slippage for your amount, trading fee, currency conversion, deposit and withdrawal. No hidden costs and no comparing headline rates alone.

  4. 04

    You pick the best exchange

You get a ranking with the exact amount you will receive and, for large orders, the optimal split across several exchanges.
