USDT/USD today: where is it cheapest?

For 2,500 USD you currently get the most USDT on OKX: 2,499.88 USDT. The least favourable exchange (Binance) gives you the equivalent of 87.66 USD (3.51%) less.

Exchanges with a direct USDT/USD market: OKX, Kraken, Crypto.com, Bitstamp, Coinbase, Kanga Global, Binance. Elsewhere you need a currency conversion or an intermediate currency, which usually adds cost.

Counting only the trading fee and slippage, Bitstamp wins, but once deposit, conversion and withdrawal are included, OKX comes out cheapest.

Even for 25,000 USD, splitting the order across exchanges brings no benefit, so one exchange is enough.

What to know about USDT

Tether (USDT) is the largest US-dollar stablecoin. In the EU, under MiCA, licensed exchanges restrict USDT trading (e.g. Bitvavo does not list it and Bybit EU has no USDT pairs), so you have fewer exchanges to choose from. When withdrawing, pick the network your receiving wallet supports (e.g. Tron, Ethereum): network fees can differ more than tenfold.

Paying with USD: what to watch for

Outside the US, dollars are usually deposited by SWIFT wire, which has a fixed fee and takes 1–3 business days; US customers can use ACH. USD and USDT/USDC markets are the deepest in the world, so for large amounts the dollar is often the cheapest route. If your bank converts at a worse rate than the ECB, also check the route via EUR.
